Manuals

Our activity is not only limited to the translation and the layout of manuals. The Editing section is also involved in the creation of instruction manuals in accordance with the Machine Directive 98/37/CE and the UNI standards for the relevant sectors.

I am a manufacturer. Which documentation must I produce in order to be in compliance with my legal responsibilities?
If the machine/plant falls within the Machine Directive, it is necessary to produce user and maintenance manuals (drafted according to the criteria drawn up under the regulation itself) and a technical file to be kept by the company and available for any possible checks. For the latter a detailed risk analysis must be carried out.

I am a retailer. Do I have any responsibilities towards my customers or are they all at the onus of the manufacturer?
In civil and penal cases, the Retailer is held responsible. Customers of the Retailer must receive a users and maintenance manual drafted in accordance with the DM and in the users language. If equipment intended for the Italian market is purchased abroad, it is not permitted to only supply an English language handbook.

I’m a purchaser. Do I have any responsibilities?
Also the purchaser has responsibilities. He is responsible for verifying that the documentation received from the supplier corresponds to that envisaged under the DM. If it does not meet with the requirements, it is necessary to bring this to the suppliers attention. EDIT has also been involved in carrying out an evaluation in regard to this.

We already have a handbook. How can I find out if it is in accordance with the regulations?
Our advisers are available in order to carry out a detailed legal appraisal.
Besides the handbook, must we produce any other documentation?
If you are machinery manufacturers it is likely that are covered by the Machine Directive 98/37/CE. In this case it is also necessary to perform a risk analysis and draft a technical file. Please feel free to contact to us for more details.

We would like to supply the documentation on CD or through our web site.
Paper documentation can be converted into various electronic formats (pdf, HTML). EDIT is also involved in the creation of multimedia CDs for educational/training uses
